Dr. Gordon Huang is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Energy and Environment, and Executive Director of the Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities at the University of Regina, Canada. He holds BSC from Peking University (China), MSc from Simon Fraser University (Canada) and PhD from McMaster University (Canada). Since the 1990s, Huang has led or been involved in over 100 environment-related research projects, produced over 600 peer-refereed international journal papers, and supervised over 100 Master/PhD students. He is the president of the International Society for Environmental Information Sciences. He has also served the United Nations as an international expert in the field of risk management for drinking water safety. The integrated simulation, optimization and risk assessment techniques which he proposed have been used by peers in studying water resources and environmental systems in a number of countries.

Professor Hong Hocheng has advised more than 60 Master and 20 PhD theses and published more than 175 journal papers and 40 patents in the area of manufacturing. His research interest lies in innovative manufacturing processes and recycling. He has been the principal investigator of more than 50 projects related to simulation/design of nontraditional machining, machining of composite materials, micro/nano-fabrication, reliability analysis of MEMS devices, and reclaim metals from industrial waste.

He is an Auxiliar Professor at ISEP – School of Engineering, Porto, Portugal. Dr Xing-Gang Yan received the B.Sc. Degree from Shaanxi Normal University, in 1985, the M.Sc. Degree from Qufu Normal University in 1991, and the Ph.D. Degree of Engineering from Northeastern University, China in 1997. Currently, he is Associate Professor of Control Engineering at the University of Kent, United Kingdom. He worked as a Research Fellow/Research Associate in the Northwestern Polytechnical University, and the University of Hong Kong, China, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. He was a Lecturer in Qingdao University, China from 1991 to 1994. He is an IEEE member, IET member, HEA Fellow and a Charted Engineer. He received the Best Application Paper Award of ASian Control Conference (ASCC) in Fukuoka, Japan in 2019, and the Outstanding Editor-in-Chief from Bilingual Publishing Group in 2022. He serves as the member of the Editorial Board of several engineering journals including IET Control Theory and Applications, Journal of Franklin Institute, Complexity and Energies etc., and the member of TPC for a number of international conferences. He has published three books, six invited book chapters and over 200 referred papers in the area of control engineering. His research interests including sliding mode control, decentralised control, fault detection and isolation, and time delay systems with applications.

Professor Lingai Luo is an Exceptional Class Research Director (ECRD) at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), based at the Laboratoire de Thermique et Energie de Nantes (LTEN-CNRS UMR6607) in France. With a vast research portfolio spanning thermal, process, and energy engineering, her work encompasses diverse areas such as combustion, energy balance analysis, solar refrigeration, adsorption processes, and thermoelectric heat pumps. She has also delved into solar energy, energy storage, and innovative fluidic, thermal, and reactive components. Professor Luo's expertise extends to energy system integration, optimization, and topology optimization assisted by machine learning. She advocates for a multi-scale approach to energy efficiency optimization, emphasizing the importance of intensification at local, component, and system scales. Her innovative strategies for fluid management aim to optimize fluid distribution in various devices and their integration into multifunctional systems. With numerous publications and editorial roles in prestigious journals, Professor Luo is recognized for her significant contributions to the field of energy engineering.

Goran Strbac is a Professor of Energy Systems, with extensive experience in advanced modelling and analysis of operation, planning, security and economics of energy systems. He led the development of novel advanced analysis approaches and methodologies that have been extensively used to inform industry, governments and regulatory bodies about the role and value of emerging new technologies and systems in supporting cost effective evolution to smart low carbon energy future. He is currently Director of the joint Imperial-Tsinghua Research Centre on Intelligent Power and Energy Systems, Leading Author in IPCC WG 3, Member of OFGEM RIIO-2 Challenging Group, Member of the UK Smart System Forum, Member of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for the Energy Transition, and Member of the Joint EU Programme in Energy Systems Integration of the European Energy Research Alliance. Professor Sam Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in Ceramics in 1991 from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. In 2006 he was promoted to tenured full professor in Singapore Nanyang Technological University. Dr. Xianguo Li is a Professor of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, University Research Chair (2014-2021), and the Director for the Fuel Cell and Green Energy Laboratory at the University of Waterloo. His research interests include hydrogen generation and hydrogen fuel cells, liquid fuel atomization and sprays, and green energy systems, as well as the thermal management of power batteries for electric vehicles. Dr. Rostand Tayong is a Senior Lecturer in Automotive Engineering at the University of Bedfordshire (United Kingdom). His research activities encompass Automotive and Mechanical Engineering, Materials Testing and Characterisation, Acoustics and Vibration methods. His main work focuses on composite materials with an emphasis on 3D woven composites. He has (co-)authored more than 40 publications including book chapter contributions, journal articles and conference proceedings. Prior to his present position, Dr Rostand Tayong worked at the University of Bristol (United Kingdom) as a Research Associate. He has been the Principal Investigator (PI) for many funded research projects including some Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded projects which aimed at characterising 3D Woven Composite materials using ultrasound methods. Dr. Sheikh Islam is the Head of Engineering at University of Staffordshire, bringing over 13 years of experience in academia and industry to his role. Dr. Islam's prior teaching leadership positions include serving as an Associate Dean, an academic strategic lead (head of the mechanical engineering discipline), an academic Team lead, and a senior lecturer for mechanical engineering courses. Dr Florimond Guéniat (FG) is Assoc Prof and College Lead for manufacturing, mech and auto engineering in the College of Engineering at Birmingham City University. He is also a committee member of the IET Artificial intelligence technical network. He is a researcher in applied mathematics and computer science, with a focus on modeling and controlling complex systems with substantial experience in Machine Learning (ML) and data-driven modeling techniques. Prof David Towers is an Engineer by training and with a mix of experience across industry and academia. He served an apprenticeship in the aerospace sector, returned to academia to study for a PhD in optical diagnostics and then worked for 10 years in the automotive industry before becoming an academic in 2000. I retain a passion for a general engineering education and that remains the focus of our teaching at Warwick University. My research is centred on performing basic and applied work in optical sensing technologies with applications across engineering, the biological sciences and clinical practice. The research is frequently multi-disciplinary and I have worked closely with collaborators across engineering, physical science, biology and with clinicians. Through our work in structural mechanics instruments have been developed for full field vibration, deformation and surface topography measurement. Our research outputs in this field have established fundamental measurement science, reported in, for example Optics Letters and Optics Express, as well as patents, commercial instrumentation systems and £M benefits to industry in terms of enhanced designs and reduced costs. More recently, we have explored technology translation to healthcare applications, for example, imaging particles for full field flow velocimetry has led to organelle tracking in live cell imaging and mosquito imaging to quantify malaria vector behaviour in their natural habitat. I have served as Head of Department for the School of Engineering at Warwick University from 2017 until 2023 growing the department through introduction of degree apprenticeship programmes and the department achieved an improved outcome in the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) in 2021.
