Tan Ying is a professor in the Department of Machine Intelligence, School of EECS, Peking University, and has served as a Ph.D. advisor and the Director of the Computational Intelligence Laboratory. He is the inventor of Fireworks Algorithm (FWA). He obtained his B.Eng. from the Electronic Engineering Institute in 1985, and M.Eng. from Xidian University in 1988, and Ph.D. from Southeast University in 1997, respectively. His research interests include computational intelligence, swarm intelligence, machine learning and data mining, and information security applications. Dr. Tan has published 6 monographs by Morgan Kaufmann (Elsevier), Springer, Wiley & IEEE, CRC Press/Taylor & Francis, IGI Global, and Science Press, respectively, and published more than 260 research papers. Most of them are in top-tier journals and conferences such as IEEE TEC, TNN, TKDE, TCyb, TIFS, TITS, CVPR, and AAAI. In addition, he authored/co-authored more than 10 books and 12 book chapters. He has served as a Leading Editor for more than twenty volumes of Springer LNCS books. He holds four patented inventions in China. He was awarded the National 2nd-Class Natural Science Prize of China in 2009. Dr. Tan is the founder and General Chair of ICSI conferences since 2010 and was General Chair of DMBD2016-2017, ICMBE2017, and ICMBE2017. Prof. Yuan Yan Tang (Life Fellow, IEEE) received his BSc degree in electrical and computer engineering from Chongqing University, Chongqing, China, the MEng degree in electrical engineering from the Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. He is currently an Emeritus Chair Professor with the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau, and a professor/adjunct professor/honorary professor with several institutes, including Chongqing University, China, Concordia University, and Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong. His current research interests include wavelets, pattern recognition, and image processing. He is the founder and chair of the Pattern Recognition Committee, IEEE SMC, and has served as General Chair, Program Chair, and Committee Member of many international conferences. Yuan Yan Tang is the founder and General Chair of the International Conferences on Wavelets Analysis and Pattern Recognition (ICWAPRs) series. Prof. GHEORGHE GRIGORAȘ is a Full Professor at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Energetics and Applied Informatics, Romania. He is the Head of the Research Laboratory “Availability of Energy Systems Supplied from Renewable Sources”, Electrical Engineering Faculty, Power System Department, “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi. He is the author of 17 books, 15 book chapters, and more than 300 articles having as the research topic applications of Artificial Intelligence techniques in various research areas regarding the control and supervisory of the power systems (load modelling, power quality, increasing the energy efficiency in the electric networks, optimal integration of renewable energy sources in the electrical networks). These research topics were motivated by the current technological developments in the Power Engineering field and the gradual implementation of the Smart Grid concept. Dr. Xing-Gang Yan received the B.S. degree from Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an, China, in 1985, the M.S. degree from Qufu Normal University, Jining, China, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 1997.,He was a Research Fellow/Associate with The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong; Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and the University of Leicester, Leicester, U.K. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with the University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K. He was a Lecturer with Qingdao University, Qingdao, China, from 1991 to 1994. Prof. Patrick Siarry was born on May 28, 1952, in Pertuis. His research area is relatively (since 1982) new “metaheuristic” optimization such as simulated annealing, which are indicated for the so-called problems of “hard optimization” because of them ability to avoid in principle, trapping in sub-optimal solutions. This topic is multidisciplinary in nature, both by the source of the methods studied (physics, biology, ethology). Much of his work is explicitly one or the other keywords – in particular, modeling, identification, learning rule bases (artificial intelligence), control, nondestructive testing and maintaining the biological and medical engineering.

Prof. Om P. Malik (Life Fellow, IEEE) received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of London, London, U.K., in 1965, and the D.I.C. degree in electrical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, U.K., in 1965. Prof. Mihaela Popescu was born in Craiova, Romania, in 1965. She received the Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Craiova, Romania, in 1988 and 2001, respectively. She also received a Certificate of Habilitation in Electrical Engineering in 2016. She is currently a Professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Craiova, Romania and Director of Doctoral School of Electrical and Energy Engineering. Her main field of interest includes power converters, adjustable-speed drives, active power filters, and power quality, with more than 250 journal and conference papers. She is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Industry Applications Society, a senior member of the Association of Computer Science and Information Technology and an academic member of the Electrical Engineering Research Unit in Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER).

Dr. Dariusz Jacek Jakóbczak was born in Koszalin, Poland, on December 30, 1965. He graduated in mathematics (numerical methods and programming) from the University of Gdansk, Poland in 1990. He received the Ph.D. degree in 2007 in computer science from the Polish – Japanese Institute of Information Technology, Warsaw, Poland. From 1991 to 1994 he was a civilian programmer in the High Military School in Koszalin. He was a teacher of mathematics and computer science in the Private Economic School in Koszalin from 1995 to 1999. Since March 1998 he has worked in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, Koszalin University of Technology, Poland and since October 2007 he has been an Assistant Professor in the Chair of Computer Science and Management in this department. His research interests connect mathematics with computer science and include computer vision, artificial intelligence, shape representation, curve interpolation, contour reconstruction and geometric modeling, numerical methods, probabilistic methods, game theory, operational research and discrete mathematics.
